Packing.
Mom was helping me pack for my three-day trip to Sacramento for the We The People competition. Suddenly, my dad joins in and suggests a larger suitcase so that I can properly pack my clothes without them getting wrinkled. We find and drag out a bigger suitcase, but it’s surprisingly heavy. We open it up and we find dad’s old clothes from the days before he developed that giant beer...

DAD KNOWS WHAT'S IN STYLE.
ME: OKAY. I'M TRYING IT ON. I THINK IT FITS.
DAD: GOOD! THAT LOOKS GOOD!
MOM: WAIT. ARE YOU SURE SHE CAN WEAR THAT? IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEN'S PANTS AND WOMEN'S PANTS?
DAD: NO. IT'S FINE. THEY'RE THE SAME AND I'VE NOTICED THAT THE STYLES FROM THE PAST ARE MAKING A COMEBACK. I KNOW BECAUSE I SAW IT ON TV.

Bold what applies to you! →
rongi: Bold what applies to you! I am a male. I am a girl. I am shorter than 5’4”. I think I’m ugly. I have many scars. I tan easily.  I wish my hair was a different color. I have friends who have never seen my natural hair color. I have a tattoo. I am self-conscious about my appearance. I have/I’ve had braces. I wear glasses I would get plastic surgery if it were 100% safe, free of cost,...

What was that term again? The 'mob effect'?
Or was it ‘mob mentality’? I can’t remember the exact name for it at the moment, but that’s exactly what it is. That is exactly what is happening with these people. Why I seem to be nit-picking at this crowd the most is beyond me. I just know that it bothers me. They bother me. A lot sometimes. This mob mentality of theirs reminds me of religion or cults or whatever....

College Apps Frustration Resurfaced.
Her SAT score is about 1500-1600, her GPA is approx 3.6, from what I’ve been told, she doesn’t seem to have a lot of family problems at home (just getting upset at her parents sometimes, but what teenager doesn’t, right?), and some money problems at home (but we live in a pretty “ghetto” place, so a lot of us probably have money problems). She does not hold and has...

WAIT.
What if I’m subconsciously making myself believe it because my subconscious feels that because I have trouble relating to the overachievers, then perhaps I will relate more with the underachievers, and in order to get there, I must allow myself to fail, or worse - make myself believe that my failure is imminent.

The Evil Molecule: The Problem of Evil →
fantasticraig: “The problem of evil” is a philosophical topic, basically wondering why bad things happen.  Why wouldn’t they? Should the random movements of atoms moving though space do anyone any favors? I think “evil” is only a problem to people who are thinking in theological terms. Yeah, if you see the universe as created and controlled by a supremely benevolent and all-powerful being, ...

Maxistentialism: "Cookies," by Douglas Adams →
This actually did happen to a real person, and the real person was me. I had gone to catch a train. This was April 1976, in Cambridge, U.K. I was a bit early for the train. I’d gotten the time of the train wrong. I went to get myself a newspaper to do the crossword, and a cup of coffee and a…
